How to get Match.com for FREE

Chances are, you have a Bank of America account. If so, their add it up program is currently doubling the Match.com reward offer from 50% to 100%… which for anyone who hasn’t taken basic math, means FREE.

Here is the process:

  1. You need a Bank of America account
  2. Get on the Add it up program, it’s FREE (http://additup.bankofamerica.com)
  3. Once signed into the add it up site, make sure to look up match.com.  I’m including a screen shot for you to make sure it looks about the same.
  4. Sign up for Match.com through Bank of America.
  5. Wait 2-3 Months for your return on investment (yeah the executives suck balls)

Flattery by any other name is… copying

So this Jew happens to be a single, somewhat white male in his later 20’s looking for his perfect partner in crime… and to that degree, most online dating websites like OKCupid, eHarmony and JDate.com suck… why? Because OKCupid is full of bullshit profiles, and weirdos that don’t want to pay to play (yes, I love FREE shit, but we can also filter out the assholes by charging a few bucks after the FREE trial, lol), eHarmony is too scared to show you photos of the people it chooses for you (maybe because half, or more, are fat and ugly) during their FREE weekend and JDate is a semi-scam for people who want to pay far too much to extinguish any hopes of meeting a shiksa.  How do I know? I’ve tried them all and haven’t really loved any particular one (though OKCupid seems to be alright and I love their analysis, plus… Julian Assange uses them to get play in the UK, so it’s not so bad overall).

Recently, my oh so lovely Russian friend Iana tells me to look into Match.com.  Having given it about 2 seconds of thought, It seemed like a good idea. But what makes a site move the BS talk to an actual meet up date?  No one else had the formula so a much smaller and cooler start-up named HowAboutWe.com took the initiative and made the date the main idea rather then a follow up to template emails.

Admittedly, I need to give credit to my fellow goy (but should be awarded Jewyness by rule) buddy Noise for his advice to check them out (and luckily I did within the first day of it hitting the Boston scene, which allowed me thus far to use the site for FREE). Fifty responses, 10 dates, and $300 later I found myself pretty happy with the outcome.  In fact, I think most people did too.  And that’s why the big honchos at Match.com realized that the little guys in NYC had them beat at their own game.

Now, this Jew knows when one website decides to copy another… there’s nothing special about it, and quite frankly it happens all the time. However, since HowAboutWe.com’s model completely bases itself on the, “let’s get to the date” point that every other website has failed to accomplish, and has done it well (certainly not perfect – I’ve written a number of feature requests and bug reports to their developers to which I’ve received thoughtful, not canned responses from their devs… though this is a topic for another post), it seems only fair to call out Match.com for their not so thoughtful copy of that idea in their new offering/feature called “DateSpark”.  While one could say it should be flattering to HowAboutWe that their idea get’s put into the Match.com system, it to me resembles the Microsoft of dating sites copying the best new dating tool of 2010 because their large employee base couldn’t think of something better.  As such, HowAboutWe.com is offering 3 months free to anyone who uses Match.com to give the big tuna a big stinkin middle finger and for that I applaud them.  Giving away free shit to users of Match is a better way to handle the situation and to call them out publicly in their blog is outright hilarious (see for yourself at: http://www.howaboutwe.com/date-report/542-in-response-to-match-com-s-copying-our-style-we-re-giving-match-users-3-months-free-on-howaboutwe).

Get your ass on HowAboutWe.com and give me the referral credits too so I can get the $100 gift card to whatever the fuck date I want to go on… and hopefully find my Jewy or not so Jewy partner in crime.

Happy Dating!
